Transformation Leads

Alex Clark

I’m Alex, and Scouting has been a huge part of my life since I was 9 years old. I started my Scouting in Crosby and my favourite childhood memories are on camps in Llansannan and Tawd Vale. I truly believe that these years in Scouting shaped the adult I am today, giving me my passion for teaching, and my love of outdoor adventure!

As an adult, Scouting has continued to be a huge part of my life… I even turned 18 at Tawd Vale on ‘The Great Escape’. One of my favourite roles in Scouting was as County Youth Commissioner which I held alongside Kieran for 4 years. I loved supporting our county to champion youth voice, and supporting our young people to shape Merseyside! After becoming a teacher, I moved to Sefton North where I have been part of the District’s leadership team for the last 3 years. I have loved my roles in Sefton North, working alongside Sid.

Ahead of transformation, I am excited to support our county to embrace exciting new changes whilst keeping our young people at the heart of all that we do. If I can support you in any way, please do reach out!

Scouting started for me at age 6 – being encouraged to attend Beavers in the hope that I would get a chance to meet new friends and fill an evening each week with an activity that didn’t involve sitting at home watching TV. Nearly 20 years later, I look back at my Mum’s persistence to encourage me to go to 7th Moreton Scout Group within West Wirral as a pivotal moment. Leaders from my group pushed me to learn new skill and embrace new experiences and I can trace many of the skills I use professionally back to those moments.

I believe passionately that every young person should be able to access the incredible opportunities that our movement creates and build #SkillsForLife.

Throughout my time in Scouts, I’ve been privileged to hold roles within teams at Group, County and National levels. More recently, I have been a Trustee for Merseyside Scouts, part of the Tawd Vale Adventure Centre SASU and Digital Services Manager for our County IT systems.

I’m excited to be part of the Merseyside Transformation Team, and the broader County Leadership Team as your Transformation Lead for Governance.

Kieran Murphy

Hi I’m Kieran and I am your Transformation Lead for Delivery roles! My scouting life started in Beavers, and throughout my time I have enjoyed a plethora of camps and events which have given me the opportunity to develop and shape my scouting journey, which I continued through my adult roles such as Section Leader and County Youth Commissioner, enabling more young people to shape their adventure and develop skills for life in Merseyside.

I have also had the privilege of representing Merseyside at national events from the first national YouShape event in 2016, to representing The Scouts at the British Youth Council and more recently at the late Queens Lying In State.

I am excited to start my new role in Merseyside as one of your Transformation Leads, working together with you to create a warmer welcome and make volunteering easier for new and existing members. We have a history of moving forward as a movement whilst keeping young people at the heart of what we do, and I look forward to developing and introducing the future of Scouting in Merseyside very soon!
