Throughout the year, we run lots of events and activities for young people. Available here is information on some of the larger events and activities which are normally held either annually or bi-annually.

Beavan Challenge
Sections: Scouts and Explorer Scouts
Next due to take place: Friday 4th October 2024 – Sunday 6th October 2024
For over 30 years the Challenge has represented an annual opportunity for Scouts, Explorer Scouts, Guides, Ranger Guides and their supporters to join together in sporting competition and meet for a thoroughly enjoyable weekend.

Celebrating Success

Each year, we celebrate the achievements of young people from across Merseyside Scouts who have achieved the Top Award in their Section.

Backwoods Cooking Competition
Sections: Scouts
Next due to take place: Saturday 6th July 2024
Scouts will be tasked with cooking a two-course meal using backwoods cooking techniques, with food being cooked on an open fire. Scouts will be scored on how well they complete the challenge with the winning patrol being awarded the County Trophy.

Expedition Challenge

MerseyMoot
Sections: Explorer Scouts and Scout Network

The Mersey Moot is held annually for some 1000+ Explorer Scouts, Ranger Guides, Young Leaders and Network members.

Night at the Museum
Sections: Beaver Scouts and Cub Scouts
Next due to take place: TBA
This event alternates between Beaver Scouts and Cub Scouts. In 2020, this is an exciting opportunity for Beavers to explore the World Museum Liverpool, undertaking a range of activities and finishing off with a sleepover. The activities will support aspects of the Beaver programme and more information will be provided nearer the time.

The Great Escape
Sections: Scouts

This annual event is for members of Merseyside’s Scout Section, aged primarily between 10 1/2 and 14. Young people take part in a wide range of challenges, in their Patrols.

SPLAT
Sections: Scouts
Next due to take place: 13th-15th June 2025
SPLAT is an action-packed fun camp for members of the Scout section on Merseyside. This event will bring together Scout troops from across the county to take part in adventurous activities, make new friends and above all have fun.

Wingding
Sections: Squirrels (tbc), Beaver Scouts and Cub Scouts
Next due to take place: 14th-16th June 2024
Wingding is a large event for Beaver Scouts and Cub Scouts from across Merseyside. We also plan to make this event accessible to Squirrels. It takes place every two years and provides an exciting weekend of adventure centred around the following activity zones: Adventure, Creative, Fun, Water, Bush craft, Global and Arena events.
