Matthew Jones

Matthew has been a member of The Scouts since the age of 8. He started his adult leadership journey as Cub Scout Leader at 1st Thurstaston in West Wirral. He went on to be appointed as Assistant Group Scout Leader and then District Cub Scout Leader for West Wirral. In 2016 he was appointed as Assistant District Commissioner (Cub Scouts) in Birkenhead and then District Commissioner for over 6 years.
Matthew became Deputy County Commissioner for Merseyside in August 2023, and following our transformation is the County Volunteering Development Team Leader.
Professionally, Matthew is a level 7 qualified Head of Health and Safety specialising in high-footfall attractions, events, stadiums and arenas. Outside of work you can find him in the theatre, cooking in the kitchen, swimming, walking and spending quality time with family and friends.
Nikki Parr

Nikki has been a member of The Scout since the age of 14, before this she was member of Girl Guiding from the age of 5. She started her leadership as a Scout and Cub leader at 1st Maghull St Andrew’s in Altside. In 2006 she was appointed as Assistant District Commissioner for the then Sefton East now known as Altside for 7 years. In January 2016 she was appointed as Assistant County Commissioner for Cub Scouts until August 2019 when Nikki was appointed for Deputy County Commissioner for Programme, following our transformation, Nikki is now County Programme Team Leader.
Nikki also holds an appointment as UK Lead for Beaver Scouts within the National Programme Team since November 2022.
Professionally, Nikki is a qualified social worker and has worked within a range of safeguarding teams in children’s services for the last 18 years. Outside work you will find her in the theatre, at the cinema or spending time with family and friends.
