Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to say a massive Thank You to Peter Oliver for his leadership, motivation, and development of Merseyside Scouts over the last 5 years. Peter has done an amazing job and as he prepares to move on to new opportunities, he should be very proud of the way he has shaped Merseyside Scout County.

As you know we launched a search for a new County Commissioner early this year and I would like to say thank you to all who have worked hard to ensure we found the right future leader for the County – and we have!

I am delighted to be able to share with you that Chris Valentine-Burrows has agreed to be the new County Commissioner of Merseyside Scouts. Many of you will know Chris in his current role as District Commissioner of St Helens and District.

Chris will bring to the role a wealth of Scouting experience and knowledge as well as extensive leadership experience developed in his professional life. Chris has a real passion for Scouting and truly values what it delivers for young People. I and the search group are certain that Chris will continue to develop the already fantastic Scouting provision that you all help to deliver in Merseyside.

Chris will officially commence his appointment on Monday 16th May. Prior to this Peter and Chris will be working closely together. Peter will be focussing on the operation of the County and Chris concentrating on meeting people, learning about the County, and considering future opportunities.

I know you will all join me in wishing Chris every success in this important role.

Ian
