Main Tasks

  • Work with Squirrel / Beaver leaders to make sure that there is a fun, inclusive and age-appropriate programme, for Squirrel / Beaver aged young people, which is consistent across the County
  • Work with Squirrel / Beaver leader to promote high quality programmes and Top Awards
  • To support and deliver learning opportunities to promote quality programmes, hard to deliver areas of the programme, community impact and young leaders.
  • Advise district Squirrel / Beaver leads on matters relating to the Squirrel / Beavers section
  • In partnership with District Squirrel / Beaver Leads to promote and encourage Squirrel / Beaver leaders to follow Scout policies.
  • Be a part of the County Team and attend meetings, including Regional and HQ events as required.
  • Support Squirrel / Beaver programmes with activities or events which are best run at County scale.  
  • To share best practice and identify opportunities to work together.
  • Encourage the District Squirrel / Beaver Leads and Squirrel / Beaver leaders, to work together to organise and run a county wide programme of activities for Squirrel / Beavers.
  • Keep up to date with information about 4–8-year-olds and what things are happening in local communities, across Districts, which might be relevant to the Squirrel / Beaver sections.
  • In partnership with District Teams and Squirrel / Beavers Leaders, promote Squirrel / Beaver Scouts in local communities.
  • Support the County with the growth of Squirrel / Beavers within the county, 
  • Support the County with the learning needs of Leaders in the Squirrel / Beaver Scout Sections.

Make sure teams across the County:

  • Work well on their own (and together).  
  • Are inclusive and reflect the demographics of their local area.  
  • Have the resources, skills, and enthusiasm, to deliver the Scouts strategy 
  • Volunteers within the County teams have the skills and experience to fulfil their safety and safeguarding responsibilities, including keeping up to date with changes, and being aware of safety and safeguarding concerns within the County. 
  • Volunteers are aware of Our Volunteering Culture, reflect on it, commit to it, and apply it in their teams.
