Who is this event for?

For over 30 years the Challenge has represented an annual opportunity for Scouts, Explorer Scouts, Guides, Ranger Guides and their supporters to join together in sporting competition and meet for a thoroughly enjoyable weekend.

When is this year's Challenge?

This year the Beavan Challenge will take place over the weekend of the 28th to 30th September 2018 at Tawd Vale Camp Site.

The Challenge Elements

All of the events will be based around the site area, which will only require support teams to run your campsite, the events that form part of the challenge are:

  • Hike/Canoeing half day expedition. This year the Hike and Water Activities have been combined into one joint activity. Scouts will either Hike out then Canoe back or Canoe out and Hike Back. Teams will be accompanied by a leader(not from their group) for the Hike element this year.
  • Target Shooting
  • First Aid
  • Camp Challenge
  • Muddy Funster

Two sessions will be completed on the Saturday and One on Sunday. Points will be awarded on a Team basis. Every competitor that completes the Challenge will receive a certificate.

How big is a team? 

The Challenge will be for Teams of 4, and all team members should be in the age categories below:

Scouts and Guides
Teams of 4 – of which 2 should be aged Under 12 and a half and 2 aged Over 12 and a half - all 4 can be Under 12 and a half if you want to enter a younger team for experience but all 4 can’t be over 12 and a half yrs.

Explorers and Rangers 
Open age range (Aged 14-18)

Further Information

In the interest of safety, any teams who are not correctly equipped for the Hike will be withdrawn. The organisers cannot supply missing or inadequate equipment. All competitors MUST be able to read an OS Map and use a compass.

An Information Booklet giving full rules & details of requirements for each event will be sent to you upon receipt of your completed Entry Form and full Entry Fees (by cheque please).
