Section Leader Training for the Remainder of 2018

The following courses will run during the remainder of 2018; until we launch an updated training course programme in 2019. Click on the date you require to book your place.

Getting Started

This informal course is intended for all new adult members within the County and will last for half a day. The course is an enhanced getting started that will seek to offer an exciting introduction to new adults and springboard both their membership to the movement and their training needs.

Section Essentials

This full day course is intended for all new Beaver Scout, Cub Scout, Scout or Explorer Scout Leaders; or leaders who are moving between Sections. The course offers essential information on being a member of a Section Leadership Team as well as essential Section specific training.

Section Leader Training from January 2019

From January 2019, our approach to delivering training will be changing. The Scout Association's core training modules for Section Leaders will be grouped in to 7 training courses; which can be seen in the diagram below.

Launching Our Revised Approach

We held a launch evening for Group Scout Leaders, District Commissioners and members of the Core Team on Wednesday 24th October. During that evening we provided more information on how our approach to Section Leader Training is changing from January 2019 - and how we will support Section Leaders through their training.

Getting Involved in Supporting Learning

We are building our team of flexible volunteers who are involved in delivering training and supporting other volunteers through their learning. This includes Course Directors, Presenters, Facilitators and Training Advisors.

We are holding an informal meeting with all those current or potential training delivery volunteers to discuss the new delivery scheme and how each of us may play a part.

The meeting will be at 19.30 on Tuesday November 6th at the Marriott, Queens Square, Liverpool. There is no commitment at this stage but if you would like to find out a bit about what we are planning and how you may help you will be most welcome.
