We've been awarded Freedom of the City of Liverpool.

Today, we will receive Freedom of the City of Liverpool.

Our world faces some significant challenges and research shows that some of the things young people today are worried about include:
  • Lack of economic opportunity, and unemployment
  • Political stability
  • Education
  • Safety, security, and well being
  • Poverty
  • And having a sense of belonging

Our young people need services that the public purse cannot afford – and those who volunteer to provide these services change lives and change communities.

Merseyside Scouts, like the other organisations receiving Freedom of the City of Liverpool, this evening; provide skills for life that support young people to address many of their concerns - through unrivalled programmes of adventure.

In Scouting; over 10,000 young people and adults experience this every week across Merseyside, over half a million across the UK, and some 30+ million around the world. It is all delivered by the most incredible team of volunteers – and we'd like to take this opportunity to say thank you.

We have been serving the community of Merseyside for the last 110 years, and the recognition we will receive today is recognition for all of our members – young people and adults - past, present and future.

Here are some photos from this special occasion.

Thank you, most sincerely, for everything you do through Scouting to change lives and change communities. Your impact is remarkable and immeasurable.
