The Merseymoot

Mersey Moot is the major joint Explorer Scout/ Ranger Guide / Young Leader / Network event held annually in the Merseyside area. Each year some 1000 Explorer Scouts, Ranger Guides, Young Leaders and Network members descend on Tawd Vale (Merseyside County Campsite). The weekend has three main objectives:- to meet new friends, to try your hand at some specialised activities and crafts and to take part in the social gathering of the year.

The programme commences on the Friday evening, you will be asked to book in and set up camp. Later you will be able to watch a selection of classic videos or join in with the Rock Concert, in the marquee.

Saturday is the major activity session, starting at 10:00 am you can climb, abseil, canoe, shoot (air rifle) and you can even try your hand at archery (look out Maid Marion), or maybe you would like a try at Scuba Diving, Circus Skills or even have a go on the aerial runway, then there is Trampolineing, Bouncy Boxing, Sumo Wrestling, Greasy Pole etc. Your Group can also take part in the various team competitions which run throughout the day, i.e. six a side football, volley ball etc. For the less energetic there is always the opportunity to have a try at some old and some not so old crafts, or just take the time to stroll round the various displays, call in at the Coffee Shop or the Snack Bar and make some new friends or even talk to some old ones.

As the sun goes down, the lights go up for the Barn Dance with Mr Blundells Alms. At 10:00pm the mood changes and we get ready for the climax of the evening the Disco and Karaoke. There is usually still an opportunity for supper before the day is brought to a close or alternatively you can watch the Midnight Movie.

Sunday is set aside for some light hearted activities including the SUPER MOOTER our very own version of It’s a Knockout (with MUD), many of Saturdays Activities and Crafts will continue. Prizes and Certificates are presented at the Scouts /Guides Own Service which brings the weekend to a Close.

Not a Bad Weekend For a Mere £23:00
