Assistant County Commissioner for Adult Support

The Assistant County Commissioner for Adult Support (ACC AS) is responsible for the induction, training and ongoing support for all adult members of the Merseyside County. The ACC AS is supported by Local Training Managers, appointed in each District, together with County Course Directors and County Trainers.

The ACC AS is responsible for:

  • Managing the provision of an induction for new adult members
  • Managing the provision of learning experiences within the County
  • Ensuring consistency across learning experiences
  • Overseeing the recommendation of Wood Badges for adult members
  • Providing opportunities for ongoing learning and support
  • Supporting District Appointments sub-Committees in the effective appointment of adults


Local Training Managers

Local Training Managers (LTMs) are responsible to the Assistant County Commissioner for Adult Support and are appointed by the County, in consultation with the relevant District Commissioner. LTMs are responsible for:

  • Undertaking the assessment of training needs for new adult members of the District, developing Personal Learning Plans with individuals
  • Managing the provision of learning experiences with the District    
  • Taking a proactive approach to facilitating the participation of adult members within the District on County run learning experiences; as required by their Personal Learning Plan
  • Recording and monitoring training progress of adult members within the District
  • Ensuring that new adult members have access to a County run induction evening
  • Raising awareness within the District of learning and support opportunities
County Course Directors, Trainers and Facilitators

County appointed Course Directors are responsible to the Assistant County Commissioner for Adult Support and will oversee the involvement of County Trainers and Facilitators to jointly provide learning experiences and support opportunities within the County. These teams are also involved in supporting flexible learning related to their specific area of expertise.

County Training Administrator(s)

The County Training Registrar is responsible to the Assistant County Commissioner for Adult Support and is responsible for supporting the learning opportunities that are provided by the team and administering course finances for Course Directors, within an agreed framework.
